Pump Case Build Guide 2025
Most overlanding water gear is a black box — you can't check what it removes or fix it in the field. This guide documents a complete multi-stage system: every component, the wiring, and the test sequences to verify it works before you rely on it.
Why this exists
Most water filtration gear for overlanding is a black box. You buy it, you trust it, and you have no way to check what it actually removes — or to fix it when it fails somewhere far from a workshop.
This guide is the opposite. It documents a multi-stage system in full: each build stage is explained in detail, along with a complete list of all components, where to buy them, and the engineering explanation of why it was built this way. Nothing hidden, nothing you can't verify.
What's inside
- 40 pages of technical documentation for the Pump Case 2025 Rev. B
- CAD files — the layout plan for the sheet metal panel on which the UV ballast and the power supply are neatly arranged
- Electrical wiring diagram — the complete circuit, drawn outng diagrem
- Step-by-step assembly — from components to working system
- Check and test sequences — how to verify the system actually works before you rely on it
- Component list with sources — exactly what to buy and where

This guide documents Revision B of the mobile water purification system (PC-2025-1000UV Rev. B) — the completely updated, revised, and field-tested evolution of the original Build Guide!
What has improved in Revision B?
- Separate Case Design: Electronics are now housed in a dedicated, isolated enclosure to eliminate any risk of moisture damage.
- Enhanced Connectivity: Heavy-duty wiring, robust connectors, and simplified routing for ultimate field reliability.
- Streamlined Hydraulics: The pressure reducer has been removed, creating a more efficient and less failure-prone water path.
- Unified Power Architecture: Pump and UV-C stages are now driven by a single, high-performance power supply unit.
- Rugged Portability: Optimized case layout for significantly improved handling, balance, and grab-and-go portability.

Who wrote it
I'm Sebastian — mechanical engineer (Dr.-Ing.), and I built this system because I couldn't buy one that told me honestly what it removed. It's been designed, built, and field-tested on our own vehicle, not specified from a catalogue.
The reasoning behind every stage is documented in the guide, and discussed in depth on our blog WeissExplorers.com
What this is — and what it isn't
This is documentation. It is not a kit, and no parts are shipped.
The guide describes the system we built and tested. It does not constitute a warranty of microbiological or chemical drinking water safety in any individual application. Anyone building, modifying, or operating a water treatment system does so on their own responsibility, and is required to verify the suitability of their setup for their own water source and intended use.
